Amtrak ride from Grand Junction to Denver – We paid extra money for a car rental drop off fee just to be on the train for this journey. Each mile brings new and different rock formations, terrain so intriguing you can’t break away even for a moment. The colors, the river, the shapes, the cliffs, the valleys produce sensory overload. We’d be delighted to be overloaded again and hope to take this trip a third time. If you want to take the train from Denver to Grand Junction, check the Amtrak schedule so you won’t be traveling after dark. Even though this trip is not in the National Parks USA, it is national park status.
